MDS 3.0 RAC-CT Certification

HFAM is proud to be an Official Training Partner of AANAC and offer the MDS 3.0 RAC-CT Certification program. This AANAC course is written by the foremost leaders in the RAI/MDS process and is reviewed by a national advisory group with expertise in: clinical assessment and care planning, completion of the MDS, and the regulatory process surrounding the RAI/MDS process.

ANAC RAC-CT® Program

How the Certification Program Works (three days):

To be eligible to become RAC-CT® Certified (Resident Assessment Coordinator – Certified®) an individual must:

  1. Be a clinician/professional involved in the RAI process.
  2. Complete 10 AANAC courses, seven of which are required as the core curriculum:
  • MDS Coding for OBRA and PPS
  • RUG-IV
  • OBRA Timing and Scheduling
  • CAAs
  • PPS Timing and Scheduling
  • Introduction to Medicare Part A
  • Care Planning

The 3 electives for this workshop are:

  • Accurately Assessing Functional Status
  • Five-Star Quality Rating System
  • Accurately Assessing Pain and the MDS 3.0

How the Recertification Program Works (two days):

To be eligible to become RAC-CT recertified, an individual must have been certified or recertified in MDS 2.0 after 12/31/06 and pass the first two days f the workshop which include the courses listed below:

  • MDS Coding for OBRA & PPS
  • OBRA Timing and Scheduling
  • PPS Timing and Scheduling
  • RUG-IV
  • CAAs
  • Accurately Assessing Functional Status

Presenter

Amy Franklin, RN, RAC-MT, CDON, CRNAC
Ms. Franklin is an accomplished interdisciplinary team leader with 12 years of management experience encompassing top level nurse consulting, Director of Nursing, Resident Assessment Coordinator/RUG, PPS, Length of Stay with Medicare A, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, Managed Care Reimbursement and Infection Control. Her expertise as a certified MDS/RAI Coordinator provides clients with the technical knowledge to create first rate reimbursement opportunities.

CEUs

This education activity is approved for 22.5 contact hours (complete program) or 15.0 contact hours (recertification program)  by the following:

Nursing: AANAC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. AANAC’s provider number is AAN-1004. AANAC is located at: 400 South Colorado Boulevard, Suite 600, Denver, CO 80246.

Administrators: Application has been made for 22.5 participant hours (full program) and 15.0 (recertification program) for nursing home administrators.

Social Work: HFAM is an approved sponsor by the Board of Social Work Examiners. This course is approved for 22.5 Social Work Category I Education units (full program) and 15.0 (recertification program).

Program Agenda

  • Training is from 8 am to 5 pm. (Registration on day one begins at 7:30 am.)
  • Lunch: 12 pm to 1 pm
  • Breaks: 10 am to 10:15 am and 3 pm to 3:15 pm
  • Days one, two and three are required to become certified for the first time.
  • You have 90 days to pass the final exams; upon successful completion, students will receive their RAC-CT® certificate in the mail.
